Convening Critical Spaces
SAWF IN promotes inclusive critical thinking and collaborative spaces for feminist agenda-setting which is necessary to understand the resource needs on the ground. We do this by engaging with different stakeholders in a series of activities that build pertinent discussions on gender justice and the funding requirements on the ground.
- Consultations with diverse stakeholders- In September and October 2021 a series of dialogues and conversations were held with stakeholders impacted by the resourcing space, such as feminist academics, activists, groups and collectives. 49 groups from 17 states participated in these consultations. It enabled a collective and interactive space to discuss key aspects of feminist funding needs and processes, enrich theoretical discussions, interrogate conceptual binaries, deepen empirical understandings, and pave the way for actionable strategies. The discussion also brought forth the need for funders to engage with groups working at the grassroots to build a feminist funding agenda, and push for integrated crisis response strategies that address the intersectional and multi-dimensional impact of the pandemic and any future crisis.
- Webinars- A two-part webinar series was held in collaboration with Solidarity Foundation based in Bengaluru to mark International Women’s Day 2022. The Women & Workspaces webinar series looked at the state of economic participation of women in both informal and formal sectors. While the first webinar focussed on sexual harassment at the workplace and redressal measures for women in the informal sector, the second one looked at structural and normative barriers keeping women from entering and staying in the paid workforce in the formal sector.
