Grants and Fellowships
As a national women's fund, SAWF IN supports women and trans* person leaders and changemakers from diverse parts of the country to promote their gender-transformative initiatives. At present, we support initiatives that cover access to legal services, economic empowerment and justice, and efforts to end gender-based violence.
SAWF IN encourages partnerships with leaders from marginalised identities like Adivasi, Dalits, persons with disabilities, sex workers, women informal workers, construction labourers, farmers and others.
We strongly believe in the leadership and expertise of the communities of the most affected, women, trans* persons in bringing about the most meaningful and sustainable changes to transform their lived realities. Thus, SAWF IN invests in leveraging the expertise and resources of these changemakers and their grassroots organizations, providing them technical guidance and support to effectively reach out to the local communities and stakeholders to implement and amplify the change.
At present SAWF IN runs the following fellowships and grants –
- Legal Fellowship Programme- which supports women lawyers practising in district courts, strengthens their effort to provide more accessible and prompt legal service to marginalised communities through pro bono litigation and legal counselling
- Economic and Environmental Justice Fellowship- that supports women and trans* person changemakers, who are implementing initiatives to enhance economic empowerment and justice for their communities, which challenge ecological risks in their localities.
- Small Grants Programme- supports grassroots initiatives and women’s and trans* person led organisations with financial and non-financial resources. We believe in their leadership and skills to find the most appropriate and long-term solutions to address the issues facing them.
