South Asia Women Foundation India (SAWF IN)

South Asia Women Foundation India (SAWF IN) is a national women’s fund in India. Our core purpose is to ensure a continuous and committed flow of resources, both financial and non-financial) to support initiatives led by and working towards advancing the rights of women and trans* persons discriminated against due to caste, class, ethnicity and other forms of marginalisation.

SAWF IN envisions a world where women, girls, and trans* persons realise their constitutional rights and freedoms to equality and non-discrimination. Therefore, we believe in advocating and influencing resource agencies and philanthropists (individuals, institutions, CSRs, and others) to commit long-term, continuous and evidence-based support towards initiatives facilitating transformation in gender norms, and practices and thereby affecting underlying power structures.

SAWF IN is part of the global sisterhood of women’s funds and feminist philanthropic movements.

(For SAWF IN, trans* refers to a wide range of gender identities. This umbrella term includes but is not restricted to agender, gender fluid and Gender non-binary identities.)
